- Senior Materials Scientist, Dual Beam Analysis
Description
Eurofins EAG Laboratories is hiring across multiple levels for our Advanced Microscopy group. We are looking for hands-on technical talent with experience in Dual Beam FIB/SEM, TEM/STEM, or both, to support client-driven materials characterization in a fast-paced analytical lab environment.
This team supports advanced materials, semiconductor devices, and other complex systems using electron microscopy techniques for imaging, analysis, and sample preparation. Depending on level and assignment, this role may align to Technician, Materials Analyst, or Scientist work.
Some of our positions:
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM/STEM) Scientist
- Hands-on TEM/STEM imaging and analysis (BF/DF, HAADF, SAED, EDS, EELS)
- Focus on microstructural characterization, defect analysis, and failure analysis
TEM/STEM Automation Scientist
- Hands-on TEM/STEM operation combined with building automation workflows (instrument control, data acquisition, and analysis pipelines)
- Develop Python-based tools and image/data workflows to improve throughput, consistency, and usability in a production lab
- Apply image processing, statistics, or machine learning to microscopy datasets (2D/3D) to support client-driven materials characterization
Dual Beam FIB/SEM Materials Analyst / Engineer
- Dual Beam FIB/SEM operation with emphasis on TEM lamella preparation
- Site-specific sample prep for semiconductor and advanced materials applications
- Work closely with TEM teams to enable downstream analysis
Atom Probe Tomography (APT) Scientist / Analyst
Atom probe sample prep and 3D compositional data analysis
Work on nanoscale materials characterization across metals, semiconductors, and thin films
Collaborate with microscopy teams to provide multi-modal analysis
Each role is specialized — candidates are not expected to cover all techniques across TEM, FIB, and Atom Probe.
Requirements
Must-have
Associate, BS, MS, or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or related field, depending on level; equivalent hands-on industry experience may also be considered
Hands-on experience with Dual Beam FIB/SEM, TEM/STEM, or closely related electron microscopy tools
Working knowledge of materials characterization, electron microscopy principles, and sample preparation
Ability to work in a deadline-driven, production-focused lab
Strong attention to detail, documentation, and technical problem-solving
Preferred
Experience with TEM lamella preparation, lift-out, or site-specific sample prep
Experience with semiconductor devices, failure analysis, hard materials, metals, ceramics, or advanced materials (Moved this to be listed 2nd. This is the background/experience the managers looks for).
Experience with STEM/EDS, STEM/EELS, diffraction, or advanced imaging workflows
Familiarity with tools/software such as FEI, JEOL, Oxford/Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, DigitalMicrograph
For higher-level roles: method development, customer-facing reporting, or workflow automation / scripting
Shift & onsite expectations
This is an onsite role. Lab coverage matters,(is important,) and openings may support schedules such as Tuesday–Saturday, Sunday–Thursday, Wednesday–Sunday, or Saturday–Wednesday. Some roles may include evening coverage (commonly around 5:00 pm–2:00 am), weekend coverage, or occasional overtime based on business needs. Final schedule and shift expectations will be confirmed during the hiring process. Shift differential applies where eligible.
Compliance note
Some assignments may support work subject to U.S. export control regulations. Where required by law, eligibility to access export-controlled information will be confirmed as part of the hiring process. To perform the work must be a US Citizen, PERM resident or Asylee.
