Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Water Quality Field Lead with an environmental science background to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL. This position required a Bachelors or Associates Degree in Natural or physical sciences and a minimum of 4 years experience field sampling for water quality / environmental low-concentration analytics.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate subcontractors Coordinate and meet with clients Generate professional reports, familiar with word and excel programs Collect surface water samples and measurements following QA/QC protocols and standard operating procedures FDEP SOP’s, and SFWMD FSQM / SOP’s Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment, including multi-parameter water quality sondes, automatic water samplers, ground water monitoring equipment, and sediment dredges Operate computer hardware and software used to record and upload multi-parameter sonde calibrations, field activities, and observations Accurately and completely document all field activities as required by the FSQM Work for extended periods of time in the field, sometimes remote areas, under hot or cold, wet conditions and in areas occupied by wildlife such as alligators, snakes, and stinging insects Operate four wheel drive vehicles Other assignments may include: Groundwater sampling Phase 1 / Phase II Environmental Site Assessments Wetland Delineation Environmental remediation Geotechnical exploration oversight Construction Materials Testing
Skills / Qualifications Required Bachelors or Associates degree in a Natural or Physical Science, or related field At least four (4) years experience collecting environmental or water quality samples for low-concentration analytics Possess general understanding of water chemistry Capable of working independently and with a team Capable of working with limited supervision Must be qualified to collect all matrices and methods associated with the assigned project(s) Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the DEP SOPs for sampling and the WQM FSQM Must comply with the sample collection requirements in each project specific Monitoring Plan Must have a general understanding of water chemistry Must be skilled and proficient in their ability to independently: Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment, including multi-parameter water quality sondes, automatic water samplers, ground water monitoring equipment, and sediment dredges Accurately and completely document all field activities as required by the FSQM Operate computer hardware and software used to record and upload multi-parameter sonde calibrations, field activities, and observations Collect surface water samples and measurements following p rope QA/QC protocols and standard operating procedures Must have the ability to: Swim Drive and/or ride in vehicles over rough off-road terrain, or on levees roads Operate and/or ride in boats for extended periods of time Wade into water to collect samples Lift 50 lbs. Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy Preferred Skilled and proficient in the ability to collect surface water, groundwater, atmospheric deposition (rain), and soil/sediment samples Experience in South Florida preferred
