Oversee all product management functions related to the metallographic products line including sample preparation, optical, and hardness testing equipment.
Manage all aspects of assigned products throughout their life cycle including market research, identification of potential products, generating product requirements/specifications, pricing, marketing and positioning within the marketplace, and understanding competitive strategies
Help direct, prepare, and maintain sales training tools and product information
Manage technical side of vendor relationships where applicable
Understand global product needs and wants
Monitor and track product trends, margins, and ROI
Interact with customers as required
Participate on New Product Development teams
Work with Consumables Product Manager as required to further promote metallographic products
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Hands-on laboratory experience, preferably within a metallographic lab, or at minimum a lab involved with materials analysis
Minimum 5 years of experience in the sale and marketing of laboratory equipment and/or consumables
Track record of accelerating growth within mature markets
Leadership experience on cross-functional and cross-organizational teams
Strong initiative to drive products and deliver results
Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into product opportunities
Strong product management and organizational skills with the ability to deliver on time commitments
Ability to work in partnership with colleagues both within and across organizations
Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required
