Lambda Technologies is seeking a Materials Engineer with industrial experience to join our rapidly growing surface integrity laboratory. This position will support the development of advanced surface enhancement technologies to improve the fatigue and SCC performance of critical components. The Materials Engineer position requires strong inter-disciplinary skills and knowledge, operating at the interface of metallurgy, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering. The Materials Engineer will provide assistance to the Laboratory and Engineering staff in the fields of metallurgy, materials, processing, and properties. A primary focus will be in the areas of mechanical behavior, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and fatigue lifing analyses. Duties will include communication with customers, and assisting with writing proposals, and reports. This position requires hands-on tasks including, but not limited to, conducting fatigue tests, application of shot peening, calibrating equipment, hardness measurements, failure analysis, and operating shop equipment. Technical publication is encouraged, including preparing and making presentations at conferences.
Expertise with materials, testing, and/or manufacturing of fatigue limited components
Coordinate technical requirements and report to industrial customers
Provide timely technical inputs for status reports, proposals, and quotations.
Design and coordinate laboratory testing to validate fatigue and SCC performance
Other engineering and documentation needs of the business, as deemed necessary
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus at least three (3) years related experience in metallurgy/materials or mechanical engineering
Experience with project management is desirable
Ability to conduct various hands-on tasks including materials testing and operating shop equipment
Experience in the aerospace, automotive, power generation, turbomachinery, biomedical or related industries is highly desirable
Experience with various analytical methods, including FEA, LEFM based fatigue life prediction methods is highly desirable
Must be a US citizen per government contract regulations
