The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank beginning with the Fall 2018 semester. A doctorate degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering is required. Additional requirements are an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and experience in full-time teaching as a faculty member in a primarily-undergraduate institution. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate (MS level) engineering mechanics courses and geotechnical courses, as well as other civil engineering courses. In addition, the candidate will be expected to initiate and sustain a scholarly research program. Candidate must have a record of published scholarly work related to visualization techniques in experimental soil mechanics. In addition, the candidate must have a record as a principal investigator on funded research related to transportation infrastructure monitoring, and a demonstrated ability for interdisciplinary research. Candidates will be evaluated on the above requirements, as well as academic background, professional experience, communication skills, and potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly and professional activity and service to the College.
