Tenure Track Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering
Location: Norman, OK
The School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) at the University of Oklahoma is seeking outstanding candidates to fill a tenure-track position in mechanical engineering at the Assistant Professor level. Successful candidates are expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, develop a nationally recognized research program, and attract external funding to support their research activities.
AME currently has 25 full-time faculty members and over 900 undergraduate and 70 graduate students. Currently, AME and the Gallogly College of Engineering are experiencing a period of strong growth in scholarly research, corporate and private donations, and student enrollment. AME has maintained its historically strong student quality with more than 70 National Merit Scholars currently enrolled. As part of the 5-year strategic plan of the College of Engineering, AME is expected to grow in strategic areas, including biomechanics of hearing, thermofluid sciences, and energy systems. AME was recently selected as one of only five schools nationwide to participate in TECAID, an NSF-funded program dedicated to enhancing diversity and inclusion in engineering programs. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering or a related field.
Candidates with research and teaching expertise in one or more of the following specialty areas are of particular interest:
Injury biomechanics at the tissue, organ, and system levels with an emphasis in structure – function relationship
Biomechanical measurement and computational modeling of sound transmission through the ear for protection and restoration of hearing
Design and development of implants or implantable devices with advanced materials and sensing techniques
