What We Do The Community Development Department provides a variety of services related to the development, construction, inspection, planning, and improvement of the City's infrastructure. This infrastructure includes Building & Safety, Community Preservation, Permit & Development, Plan Review, City Planning, Urban Design, Transportation Planning, & Traffic Engineering. In addition, the departments runs the following operations: code compliance, building permits, records request, animal control, rent control.
What We're Looking For The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a qualified candidate for a Transportation Planner position. The incumbent of this position will be working in the Community Development Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering Division and will be reporting to the Deputy Director of Transportation. Primary responsibilities of the position are planning and coordinating complex technical and professional functions related to Transportation Planning, special projects and transit programs. Its primary focus will be Transportation Planning for the Purple Extension including collecting and analyzing traffic data, reviewing and developing traffic control plans and neighborhood traffic management measures. This position will also be involved in planning for the future Subway stations, including development of first/last mile strategies and street improvements. The position requires strong communication and presentation skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders and the public. This position is to support the Metro Purple Extension project which is anticipated to be complete in 2026.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (These qualifications are typically required. A combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted).
Bachelor's degree in planning, transportation engineering, public administration, or a related field (Master's degree desirable).
Three (3) years of transportation planning or related experience.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Benefits This position represented by the City's Management and Professional Employees (M&P) Association and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The City provides a generous compensation and benefits package, including CalPERS 2.5% @ 55 for classic members, $2,100/month towards health insurance (with option of up to $500/month as taxable cash), and a monthly contribution of $300 to an RHS account for retiree medical savings, generous administrative leave and vacation accruals with the option for annual cash-outs, and a Pay for Performance program of up to 5% of salary annually to recognize exceptional performance.
